Moving Brands collaboration to create a visual language for an AI Assistant: Exploring Multimodal Design
Role: Visual design collaboration | Brand strategy contribution | Pitch design & art direction
THE CHALLENGE :
Beeb was BBC's voice companion app "the world's most trusted companion" for the next generation. Moving Brands led the main brand strategy, but needed BBC internal expertise to ensure the visual identity worked across BBC's existing voice ecosystem, adhered to master brand guidelines and worked with the Voice+ AI brand tone. The challenge was creating a visual language that felt fresh and playful while connecting to BBC's position of trust.
MY APPROACH:
I worked alongside the Moving Brands team in their London design studio for the duration of this collaboration, joining daily brainstorming sessions with a multidisciplinary team of motion designers, graphic designers, coders, and UI designers. Using a diverge and converge approach, we developed 2 main concept territories and pitched them back to BBC stakeholders. Through iteration, we narrowed the ideas to the final grid-based visual system that unified the Beeb identity.
WHAT I DELIVERED:
01_Visual strategy input ensuring Beeb connected to BBC Voice+AI internal brand and meeting BBC master brand guidelines.
02_Developed concept graphics to explore and visualise the diverge/converge process from initial ideas to final Pulse concept.
03_Designed presentation decks for both the wider UX team and senior BBC leaders, clearly communicating concepts and process.
04_Worked with product team to ensure the final visual concept was practical for implementation across BBC digital platforms
05_Collaboration documentation bridging Moving Brands' creative approach with BBC's technical and brand requirements
